Attorney Gary Hill knows the local community well. As a youth, he worked in a variety of jobs in the Central Valley's agricultural industry, including driving tractors, harvesting crops including barley and safflower, working on a product line in a cannery and loading boxcars. In addition, he worked as a union laborer on the California aqueduct project before entering the military.
Prior to practicing law, Attorney Hill served for five years on active duty in U.S. Marine Corps as a CH-46 helicopter pilot. After leaving active duty, he served 16-plus years with the active reserves as a CH-53 helicopter pilot, retiring with the rank of colonel.
